Help for Fire-Affected CA Colleges

Our thoughts are with our friends and colleagues at Santa Rosa Junior College, Napa Valley College, and Mendocino College, where wildfires have left hundreds of staff, faculty and students homeless. Some 200 students, faculty and staff at Santa Rosa alone have lost their homes entirely or been displaced by fire. Their college won't reopen until Monday Oct. 22 because of current conditions. Napa Valley has been operating as a full-blown evacuation center for some time, where hundreds of people sought shelter while evacuation orders were issued in nearby Calistoga. They won't reopen as a place of learning until Monday as well. And at Mendocino College, classes are back in session but many more staff, faculty and students have lost their residences, and efforts there are ongoing to provide food, shelter, showers, and comfort to many in their community who lost everything.
