New FAFSA Deadline

Attention, financial aid seekers! The Free Application for Federal Student Aid, called FAFSA, will now be available to fill out and submit three months earlier than ever before, on October 1, 2016! And, the FAFSA form is now a whole lot easier to fill out. In 2015, President Barack Obama announced that prior-prior year, or PPY, tax returns could now be used to determine federal financial aid for college students, which makes the earlier release of the FAFSA form possible. A new IRS Data Retrieval Tool, or DRT, has also been implemented to improve tax return accuracy. This means that the FAFSA can now be automatically filled in with tax return info, making the process easier and more accurate. Best of all, students will now hear back even earlier about their financial aid packages, making college financial planning much easier!
