New Evening Child Care for LTCC Student-Parents
December 2, 2019
Thanks to a Child Care Access Means Parents in School (CCAMPIS) grant, Lake Tahoe Community College will soon be offering evening child care just for current LTCC student-parents at discounted prices!
Starting in Winter Quarter 2020 on Monday, January 6, currently enrolled students who are eligible can access evening child care at LTCC's Child Development Center (CDC) on Mondays and/or Tuesdays from 5:30pm-10pm. For Pell grant-eligible students, the cost is $20/evening including dinner for the child. If not Pell-eligible, the cost is $35/evening including dinner. This service is for any child between the age of 6 weeks and 5 years old. A 12-week/quarter-long commitment from the student-parent(s) is preferred. Payment is to be received on the first scheduled day of the month for the coming month via check or money order. Billing invoices are based on the child's enrollment schedule and pre-payment for each month is due by the child's first scheduled day of the month. Children's schedules may depend on availability. There is currently no waiting list for evening care.
Student-parents who already receive a federal Pell grant for college are eligible. To find out about Pell grant eligibility, submit a Free Application for Federal Student Loan application, also called the FAFSA. Information about how to submit a FAFSA is on LTCC's Financial Aid webpage. For help, visit Financial Aid in the One-Stop Office in the Main Building Commons, or call them at (530) 541-4660 x. 276.
In addition to verifying Pell eligibility, student-parents will also need to:
- Submit an application for child care services with the CDC.
- Submit a current LTCC class schedule.
CCAMPIS is a federal grant funded by the U.S. Department of Education to support student-parents. The program supports the participation of low-income student-parents in postsecondary education through the provision of campus-based child care services.
