LTCC to receive Title III grant Lake Tahoe Community College is getting some money.
The college received news this month that it had been selected to receive a federal Title III grant from the U.S. Department of Education. The college was one of only 62 new awards given in 2008. The grant will be administered over a five year period and total $2 million by its completion. The money will pay for a total overhaul of the college’s information technology structure.
Only Lake Tahoe Community College can offer Tahoe. Mountains, the lake and year round activities give students a rich college experience.
And you can't beat the price. Students pay the same low fees at all California community colleges. Tuition for full-time students is just $600 a year. Annual tuition in the California State University system is $3,521 and at the University of California campuses it is $8,100.
We have small class sizes. The average is 14 students. Our students don't get lost in the crowd and LTCC is a safe and friendly campus.
Our students succeed. The overall course completion rate at LTCC is the fourth highest in the state. We transfer more students to four-year universities than colleges twice our size and our students leave prepared for the challenges ahead. LTCC transfer students have higher grade point averages than the state average for community college transfers and higher grade point averages than students who started at a four-year institution.
LTCC has transfer admission agreements with schools like UC-Santa Barbara, UC-Davis, UC-San Diego, UC-Santa Cruz, UC-Riverside, UC-Merced, and Sonoma State University. These programs guarantee admission to these universities for students who fulfill the requirements.
LTCC's campus, first built in 1988, is set amid 164 acres of forest near the lake. The college offers state of the art "smart" technology in classrooms, approximately 200 computers are available to students, including two PC labs, one Mac lab, an internet café, computer stations and wireless access in the library. A new 27,000 square foot library and art gallery opened in September 2006. The campus offers a first class gymnasium and fitness center and a culinary facility and dining hall/student center both constructed in 2002.
Tahoe provides the environment. We provide the education. You belong here.
