LTCC to receive Title III grant
Lake Tahoe Community College is getting some money.

The college received news this month that it had been selected to receive a federal Title III grant from the U.S. Department of Education. The college was one of only 62 new awards given in 2008. The grant will be administered over a five year period and total $2 million by its completion. The money will pay for a total overhaul of the college’s information technology structure.

Top 10 reasons to send your student to Lake Tahoe Community College

1. Location, location, location. LTCC is located in the heart of South Lake Tahoe. Mountains, lake and year round activities give you plenty of reasons to come for a visit.

2. LTCC is a safe, friendly and modern campus. LTCC's campus, first built in 1988, is set amid 164 acres of forest near the lake. The college offers state of the art "smart" technology in classrooms; approximately 200 computers are available to students, including two PC labs, one Mac lab, an Internet café, computer stations and wireless access in the library. And LTCC has had no incidents of major crime on its campus.

3. High academic standards.

4. LTCC students succeed. Our students are accepted at public and private universities throughout California and around the nation.

5. It's a great deal. Students pay the same low fees at all California community colleges. Tuition at LTCC is just $600 a year. Annual tuition in the California State University system is $2,772 and at the University of California campuses it is $7,446.

6. We have small class sizes. The average is 14 students. That means students get to know their instructors.

7. Jobs are available. South Lake Tahoe's tourism economy provides plentiful part-time employment opportunities for students -- also good for your bank account.

8. Students live and play in a pristine and healthy environment that offers plenty of chances for outdoor recreation.

9. There is reasonable rental housing available.

10. It's Tahoe. Did we mention it's a great place to visit.
